License-Exempt Home-Based Child Care

Care for up to 3 children in a home setting

License exempt home providers can care for up to 3 children at a time, not including their own children. These providers may become listed with Employment-Related Day Care (ERDC) to accept child care subsidy payments from the state.

Licensed Child Care Centers

Certified Child Care Center

Certified Centers may be licensed to provide care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Requirements for licensed centers include compliance with planning and zoning laws, fire marshal and environmental health inspections, licensor visits, and more. Learn more

Licensed Family Child Care

Registered or Certified Family Child Care

There are two types of licensed family child care. Registered Family Child Care providers can care for up to 10 children in their home. Certified Family Child Care providers can care for up to 16 children, depending on the licensed capacity.

Recorded Preschool and School-Age Programs

Recorded programs have minimal rules for starting and must be serve either Preschool or School-Age children. Learn more
