The Budget Committee consists of seven members of the Board of Education as well as seven citizens from the community. Each board member appoints one citizen to the committee for a term of three years. Terms are staggered so that about one third of the appointed terms end each year. The Budget Committee reviews the proposed budget each fiscal year and makes a recommendation on the budget in accordance with Oregon’s Local Budget Law for final enactment.
Public comment is an important component of the Budget Committee meetings. At most Budget Committee meetings, a period of time is set aside for public comment, and each speaker usually has up to three minutes to share his or her views on the budget. LCC seeks members for Budget Committee
The Lane Community College (LCC) Board of Education is currently accepting applications to fill two vacancies on the LCC Budget Committee. This committee plays a vital role in reviewing and recommending the college’s annual budget in compliance with Oregon’s Local Budget Law. The openings are in Zone 2 (Northwest) and Zone 5 (Downtown and South Eugene). While applicants are not required to live in these specific zones, they must be registered voters residing within the Lane Community College District. Public comment may be made in person at the meeting and via Zoom webinar by registering in advance. Instructions for registering to provide comment remotely are available in the meeting materials. After registering, a confirmation email will be sent containing information about joining the webinar.
