Sociology

PROGRAM

Why do humans behave the way they do? Sociology helps us understand.

What you’ll earn

The sociology transfer interest area at Lane can help prepare you to transfer to a four year institution to work toward a career in sociology. Once enrolled, you’ll work with your advisor to build a degree plan specific to your goals.

Transfer Interest Area

Begin your study of sociology at Lane Community College and transfer to earn your four year degree with the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree. While fulfilling many general education course requirements for your bachelor's degree, Lane gives you the opportunity to take classes exploring the social rules and processes that bind and separate people not only as individuals, but also as members of associations, groups, and institutions.

Sociology includes the examination of the organization and development of human social life. Most sociologists work in one or more specialties or subfields, from how people interact as one-on-one, to global social processes, and everything in between!

AFTER LANE

An Associate of Arts, Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree with a focus in sociology will give you credits that will transfer to leading four year institutions for more in-depth study. With an AAOT you can choose courses that interest you, while still meeting university lower division general education requirements.

Sociology is an excellent field of study if you're interested business, human service, or any other career field where you need to understand how people behave.
