2+2 is the common way to refer to completing 2 years of general education requirements at a community college plus two years of major specific requirements at a university to complete a 4 year bachelor's degree.
Nearly all 4 year bachelor's degrees in the USA require "General Education" courses and "Major Specific" courses. These general education requirements are the first two years of the bachelor's degree. Both community colleges and universities offer the general education requirements.
In Oregon, state law mandates that any student who completes their general education requirement which we call the "Oregon Associates of Arts, Transfer" or the "Oregon Associates of Science, Business Transfer" will have junior (3rd year) standing at any of the Oregon Universities they are admitted to.
How do I choose the right classes for transfer?
At orientation, or upon the completion of English as a Second Language, you will meet with an international academic advisor and choose first term courses based on your placement test scores. After you second week of classes, you will again meet with your international academic advisor to plan your courses for the next two years based on your transfer plans. You may also wish to consult with a major specific advisor in counseling and advising.
How popular is 2+2?
In America, more than 45% of American students studying for a bachelor's degree study at a community college. In Oregon, more than 62% of students getting a bachelor's degree study at a community college.
