60 Hours for 60 Years: Join Lane’s Volunteer Challenge
As part of Lane Community College’s 60th Anniversary celebration, we’re excited to launch the “60 Hours for 60 Years” volunteer challenge. This initiative encourages all employees to contribute 60 hours of community service between now and May 1, 2025. It’s a chance for us to give back and showcase Lane’s commitment to community engagement.
How to Participate:
Submit Your Hours:
Complete the challenge and submit your final hours by May 1, 2025.
Eligible Activities:
Volunteer at nonprofits, community centers, schools, or environmental clean-up efforts. Whether you mentor, help at a food bank, or offer professional services, your time counts. Activities benefiting for-profit businesses or personal interests do not qualify.
Recognition and Prizes:
Complete 60 hours, and you’ll receive exclusive 60th Anniversary swag. Top volunteers and teams will earn additional prizes and be recognized at the Spring In-Service event in May 2025.

60 Hours for 60 Years: Guidelines and Instructions
As part of Lane Community College’s 60th Anniversary celebration, we invite all employees to participate in our "60 Hours for 60 Years" challenge by contributing 60 hours of community service or volunteerism between now and May 1, 2025. This initiative celebrates our commitment to community engagement and service.
Eligibility:
- Open to all Lane Community College employees, including full-time, part-time, and contract.
- Participants can complete volunteer hours as individuals or as part of a team (departments, workgroups, etc.).
How to Participate:
- Track Your Hours: Use the provided tracking sheet to record your volunteer activities and hours. You will be responsible for ensuring your hours are documented accurately.

Submit Hours: At the end of the challenge, submit your hours through the Submission Form. Deadline for submission is May 1, 2025.
Service Guidelines:
- Qualifying Activities: Any volunteer or community service activity that benefits nonprofit organizations, community groups, or public services qualifies. Examples include:
- Volunteering at food banks, shelters, or community centers.
- Mentoring or tutoring.
- Environmental clean-up efforts.
- Participating in local fundraising or awareness events.
- Offering professional services (e.g., graphic design, communications, etc.) to nonprofit organizations.
- Non-Qualifying Activities: Any service that primarily benefits for-profit businesses or personal interests will not count toward the challenge.
Team Participation:
- Teams can combine hours, but each team member is encouraged to individually aim for 60 hours. The more hours logged, the greater the chance to win!
Prizes and Recognition:
- Participants who complete 60 hours will receive 60th Anniversary Lane Community College swag (e.g., notebooks, pens, lanyards, stickers, temporary tattoos).
- Additional prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 Individual Volunteers and Top 3 Teams with the highest number of hours logged.
- All participants will be recognized at the Spring In-Service Recognition Event in May 2025.
Reporting and Sharing:
- Throughout the challenge, participants are encouraged to share their volunteer stories and photos on social media using the hashtag #60for60Lane.
- Monthly spotlight stories will be featured in the Lane Weekly and on the college’s social media channels.
