On COVID-19 Vaccination:

Although the vaccines and booster are not currently required, these may be subject to change based on clinical site requirement. Clinical facilities may or may/may not require COVID-19 vaccination at any given point. Since the clinical rotation part of the course is required for the completion of the Nursing Assistant program, students would need to comply with their requirements.
In COMPLIO, COVID vaccines are still required for other Health Professions programs. You will need to request an override from the program/clinical instructor if you choose to not be currently vaccinated.
What level of English is required?
Reading skills must be good enough to read a clearly written, health science textbook mostly accurately. Reading slowly is ok, but being able to read accurately is essential. Much of Nursing Assistant training requires the student to read independently. The Nursing Assistant textbook is 20 chapters long with 226 pages of information to be read and learned in less than 11 weeks. Health Science texts are dense, which means there is a lot of information packed into each page. For students whose first languages are not English, we are pleased to offer additional English language vocabulary, speaking and reading support through our PASS Lane Nursing Assistant Preparation program.
PASS Lane offers students an extra term to learn Nursing Assistant materials, ask questions about the text and the career, clarify areas of confusion, and learn new vocabulary. For more information or to apply, see: PASS Lane
