Overview of Lane's Institutional Accreditation Process
The accreditation process includes a comprehensive self-study and evaluation to determine how we meet our mission and serve our students. Maintaining accreditation through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) (nwccu.org) requires Lane to participate in a seven-year continuous-improvement cycle including submitting reports and hosting evaluators during site visits.
Summary of Current Activities
Where are we now?
In February 2022 Lane’s institutional accreditation was reaffirmed by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU letter February 18). Lane received six (6) commendations and two (2) recommendations.
What's next?
The next step is to host an in-person NWCCU site visit team when public health conditions improve. Per the US Department of Education guidance, all virtual accreditation site visits shall be followed by in-person campus visits within a reasonable time. As information becomes available it will be shared with the campus and community.
Future evaluations include the following reports and timelines:
- Mid-Cycle Review Fall 2024
- Policies, Regulations, and Financial Review Fall 2027
- Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness Fall 2028
What are the outcomes of the process?
The self-study process allows us to take a comprehensive look at where we excel and how we can improve student learning, student achievement and institutional effectiveness. After the self-study, we create reports for NWCCU and host NWCCU evaluators during a site visit. NWCCU can issue compliments, commendations, concerns and recommendations. We use that information to improve.
