The Humanities Division oversees three departments: Communication Studies, Language Studies, and Writing and Literature
Humanities Division
Language Studies, Communication Studies, and Writing and Literature. With a wide variety of courses and a large number of different course offerings, you can develop a full range of expressive, interpretive, creative, and communicative skills.
Writing and Literature
The Writing and Literature Department offers courses in composition, creative writing, technical writing, literature, and film as literature. The Writing Center offers one-to-one tutoring on papers written for any class at LCC.
Language Studies
The Language Studies Department offers two years of study in French, Spanish, and Chinuk Wawa (from 101 to 203), satisfying graduation requirements of the Oregon University System. We also offer classes in American Sign Language (ASL).
Communication Studies
The Speech and Communication Studies Department offers courses that focus on oral communication in a number of contexts, including interpersonal communication, group communication, professional communication, cultural communication, and public speaking. The department also offers courses in Forensics and supports the LCC student debate team.
