EUGENE, Ore.– An award-winning presentation by Kit Yan, a queer/trans/Asian-American slam poet, will be held Wednesday, May 22, from 6-7 p.m. at the Lane Community College Blue Door Theatre, Bldg. 6, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene.
Yan’s presentation, “Queer Heartache,” has won five awards at the Chicago and San Francisco fringe festivals. The event is free but seating is limited; register at lanecc.edu/gec
“This presentation celebrates the beauty of queerness, as well as Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month,” says Jerry de Leon, director of the Gender Equity Center at Lane which is co-sponsoring the event with Lane’s Asian and Pacific Islander Student Union. The show is intended for mature audiences.
