Steps to Enroll for First Time and Prior College Students

How to Apply and Enroll

Welcome to Lane! We're glad you've chosen to enroll as a credit student at Lane. By following these Steps to Enroll, you'll be on your way to fulfilling your academic dreams!

First Time in College students include anyone pursing a degree who hasn't previously attended another college. You're also a First Time College student if you took college classes while in High School. Prior college students include anyone who previously pursued a degree at another college.

Apply for Admission

Fill out the online application and submit a $25 deposit. If you need the deposit waived, please apply in person.

Fill out a new application or resume an incomplete application

Learn more about financial aid and scholarships.

What you need

  • An email address you have access to
  • Your Social Security Number, if you'll be applying for financial aid

Activate your Student Email and set your Password

Check your email for your L Number (student ID number) and steps on how to activate your student email and set your password.

Complete Course Placement

Follow course placement steps in the admissions portal. This will help ensure you'll be successful in your classes.

What you need

  • AP, IB, Smarter Balance, GED, SAT, or ACT scores, if you have them
  • Your college transcripts, if you took college classes while you were enrolled in high school
  • Your high school GPA
  • Your L Number

Take the Online Orientation

Orientation will help you understand financial aid, what courses to take, how to register for them, important deadlines, how to connect with support services and more. You can take the orientation at any time! You can see the orientation in the admissions portal or in Moodle through the link below.

That's it! You're ready to register! Sign into myLane to register for classes. View important registration dates & find instructions on how to use the registration system.
