EUGENE, Ore. — The Student Production Association (SPA) of Lane Community College presents “Spring Inspirations,” a live virtual festival of short new performance works, written by LCC and local community members, inspired by the past year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The production is a live-streamed event to be shown on May 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively. “Spring Inspirations” is a free performance that will be streamed on spalcc.blogspot.com. There will be a Q&A with the cast after the show.
The production includes original works by four different local playwrights: Brian Haimbach, Melia Scanlon, Rachael Carnes, and Paul Calandrino, and will include original music by Ben Watts. Topics include innovation against adversity, sibling connection/disconnection, and questions about the meaning of life. SPA is excited to connect the Lane County community by meeting the moment with these new and relevant pieces.
The Student Production Association of LCC produces three full productions annually, offers various workshops to the broader Eugene community, and showcases work from LCC acting classes. SPA is a resource for LCC students to create theater in all its forms and see their work come to fruition in productions.
