EUGENE, Ore. — The Student Production Association (SPA) of Lane Community College presents a live remote reading of their adaptation of the play “LIFE” in collaboration with Charles Mee's “the (re)making project.” Catch the show on Friday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 20, at 2 p.m. The performance will be a free, virtual streaming experience where viewers can watch performers interact virtually in real-time.
With a cast of nine individuals, 13 to 70 years in age, “LIFE” will be used as the basis to create a personalized adaptation of the play that is unique to Eugene and LCC SPA. Mee started this project so that individuals could “build their own, entirely new piece” from his original play.
The play hopes to delve into topics related to the impermanence of love, the slipperiness of security, the evasiveness of meaning, and how it influences our lives. Both the SPA board and director Willow Jade Norton decided to keep the element of live performance as a pillar for this project with no editing or second takes. A short Q&A will take place after the performances so the audience can ask questions and engage in the (re)making of the project.
