Opening Reception set for January 16

EUGENE, Ore.— The Lane Community College Art Gallery opens two exhibits January 7 featuring artists Hank Murrow and Joe Davis, as well as the artist book collection of LCC faculty Susan Lowdermilk. A reception for both exhibits will be held Thursday, January 16, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the gallery.

“From Table to Metaphor; From Vessel to Intrigue” by Hank Murrow and Joe Davis portrays their enthusiasm and unique camaraderie, celebrating the central aspects of their shared ceramic studio, from clay to ware, form and surface, kilns and firing. Each artist has a unique set of interests and metaphorical vocabularies, yet find intersection in their ideas and handling of clay. Please join us as we celebrate nearly 15 years of collaboration and friendship. The exhibit is in the Roger Hall Gallery from January 7 to February 5 and will feature an Artist Talk on Wednesday, January 22 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

“Off the Shelf: Artist’s Books Collection” of Susan Lowdermilk features the collected works of local artist and long-time art faculty at Lane Community College, Susan Lowdermilk. Her collection varies over time, from the contemporary to works from the last century, each of which contains the alluring quality that they are kinetic, time-based, sculptural works meant to be explored one person at a time. The exhibit is in the Main Art Gallery from January 7 to February 5 and will feature an Artist Talk on Wednesday, January 29 from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
