EUGENE, Ore.— Students in the Lane Community College Energy Management Technician program will benefit from a new $25,000 annual scholarship fund provided by the Eugene Water & Electric Board.

Students may apply for scholarships of up to $5,000 for first-year tuition and expenses. Applicants must reside within the EWEB service area, have financial need, and show academic aptitude. Program costs are estimated at $11,227 including $1,000 in specific fees and $10,227 in resident tuition and general student fees.

The Energy Management Technician program prepares students for careers in residential and commercial building energy-using systems management. Students learn to evaluate and measure energy consumption and make informed recommendations on energy efficiency improvements.

Jobs are available in government agencies, utilities, engineering firms, school districts, community action programs, and as residential weatherization analysts. Employment rates are estimated to be excellent through 2020 with wages averaging $40,000-$50,000 annually across the Western United States.

“There isn’t a better time to become involved in commercial building energy efficiency,” says Roger Ebbage, the energy program coordinator.

The Energy Management Technician program is an Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Approved Education Provider. The program is offered exclusively online.
