EUGENE, Ore.–Lane Community College President Margaret Hamilton “is a highly effective leader and strategic thinker, advancing the mission of the college, the effectiveness of the college, and the capacity of the college to serve students and Lane County,” said LCC Board of Education Chair Mike Eyster in announcing the president’s annual performance evaluation.
The president responded to board goals and identified new areas needing improvement. She approached collective bargaining with positivity, advanced equity and inclusion at the college, and demonstrated resilience and aplomb while handling multiple complex issues simultaneously.
Hamilton also was praised for her personal attributes of enthusiasm, energy and an open and active communication style. “This has been a very strong year for Lane,” Eyster said.
For the year ahead, the board looks forward to working with President Hamilton as she expands her outreach in support of increased funding for Lane Community College through alumni engagement and fundraising.
This is President Hamilton’s second consecutive outstanding performance evaluation since becoming Lane’s seventh president in July 2017. She brought more than 30 years of community college experience to Lane after a successful career in Camden, N.J. Currently she serves on the Oregon Community College Association President’s Council, Equity and Community Consortium Board, Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board, and Sacred Heart Medical Center Community Board at RiverBend.
