EUGENE, Ore. - Lane Community College Athletics has appointed Brian Schaudt to a one-year, interim position as track and field coach.

Schaudt has been heavily involved in collegiate track and field in Eugene since his graduation as a student athlete from the University of Oregon in 2012. Since then he has spent time assisting UO head coach Robert Johnson and associate head coach Curtis Taylor as a volunteer in the sprints, jumps and hurdles for three seasons, as well as the head track and cross country coach at New Hope Christian College, and most recently the assistant cross country and track/head strength and conditioning coach at Lane.

While at the UO from 2013-15, he was a part of seven men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor national championships, working with athletes such as English Gardner, Jenna Prandini, Jasmine Todd, Phyllis Francis and more recently Raevyn Rodgers, Marcus Chambers and Ariana Washington, while being guided by Johnson and Taylor.

At New Hope, Schaudt progressed the New Hope Deacons to their first national championship in 2016 (javelin), first All-American in 2015 (javelin) and first national championship scorer in 2014 (steeple chase).

This year in his current position at LCC under head coach Grady O’Connor, who returns to teaching at the end of this season, Schaudt assisted the men’s cross country team in winning the Northwest Athletic Conference title for the first time in 31 years, the men’s track team in winning their fifth consecutive NWAC title, and has coached the school record holder in the triple jump.
