EUGENE — The Lane Community College Dance Program presents “The Works Student Dance Concert,” at 7:30 p.m. June 4. The audience can experience the dances from the comfort of their homes in real time from the Ragozzino Hall stage at no charge via Facebook livestream.

“The Works Student Dance Concert” is a collection of dances and dance films conceived, choreographed, and filmed by Lane’s finest dance artists. With both in-person and remote rehearsals, the dancers have been steeped in the creative process for the past several months preparing their dances and films.

Perry Lynn Wright presents “Ascension,” a solo imbued with iconic movements and shapes that elicit images of classic Greek figures with a striking contemporary sensibility. This will be Wright’s final performance at Lane before she transfers to University of Wales in the fall to pursue her bachelor's degree in dance. Tabitha Ealy, who presented her film, “Unusual Tranquility” at the University of Oregon Undergraduate Research Symposium, performs “Reflection,” a duet with McKenzie Collins. Ealy uses film, lighting effects, and her unique movement style to reshape and define space. Grace Roberts dances a duet with film in a kinetic, absorbing solo. Alumni Colleen O’Malley returns to Lane’s Dance Program after over a decade pursuing a law career. Working remotely from Minneapolis, O’Malley taught her solo, “Resigned” to faculty member Sarah Nemecek, who will perform the piece. The work, both painful and funny, exposes a politician's harsh falsehoods.

Other dance artists presenting work are Braillyn Krill, Margo McConahay, Karen Sanchez, and Seqouyah Jones. Please join us at the Ragozzino Hall via livestream for this evening of dance and film.
