EUGENE, Ore.—At it’s Oct. 11 meeting, the Lane Community College Board of Education appointed Lisa Fragala of Eugene to fill the At Large Position 7 vacancy.
“The board’s unanimous selection is the result of Lisa’s commitment to students, the mission of LCC, and her extensive leadership experience in the community,” said Board Chair Mike Eyster. “We welcome Lisa to the board with enthusiasm.”
Fragala has more than 20 years of experience as an elementary educator. She currently teaches second grade at Adams Elementary.
She has served on the Oregon Education Association and the Eugene Education Association. Currently she is a member of the City of Eugene Planning Commission, the Neighborhood Leaders Council Equity Subcommittee, and the board of the Friendly Area neighborhood association. She has served on numerous additional committees and community organizations, worked on school bond measures, and participated in social justice campaigns addressing equity and diversity issues.
Fragala has a master’s in elementary education from Oregon State University where she also attended the Professional Teacher Education Program. She completed teacher education pre-requisite coursework at Lane.
Eyster said the board was impressed by the large pool of highly qualified applicants for the vacancy. He expressed the board’s gratitude that citizens stepped up to offer their service to Lane Community College.
Fragala will take the oath of office at the board’s next regular monthly meeting on Nov. 15.
