EUGENE, Ore.–The Student Production Association of Lane Community College will hold auditions on November 25 and 26 for its production of “Winter Shorts.” Actors can arrive any time between 5 and 7 p.m. at the Blue Door Theater, Bldg. 6, Lane main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene.
“Winter Shorts” is SPA’s annual evening of new works for the stage. The event will include world premieres of numerous 10-minute plays and an original “devised” performance piece. Plays are written by LCC theatre students and local playwrights and the devised performance will be created “from scratch” by LCC student actors under the guidance director Eric William. Performance dates are February 6-16.
Tara Wibrew, associate producer at Oregon Contemporary Theatre, is the artistic advisor, dramaturg, and directing coach for the production. SPA is thrilled to have her lend her professional and educational expertise to this show. She will help make this one of the most rewarding and fun experience for all students involved.
Aaron Michael Smart, former SPA President and recent graduate of Central Washington’s Theatre program, will serve as playwriting coach. His guidance will also make this experience extremely valuable to LCC Theatre students.
Parts are available for up to 25 actors of all types and gender and racial identities. No Experience Necessary. This production is an excellent opportunity for emerging actors to experience the thrill of being in a show. Auditions are open to students and community members. No prepared monologue necessary, actors will read from the scripts. Rehearsals will be based on actor availability.
