EUGENE, Ore. — South Eugene High School (SEHS) students have gained an enormous asset in their exploration of the aviation field. Lane Community College, having recently modernized the flight simulator for the Lane Aviation Academy, passed on the school's previous one to SEHS. Currently, eleven students in the school's engineering and design lab electronics class have been disassembling and reassembling the unit during class. The simulator will be incorporated into all the engineering technology CTE program classes and will be available for the school's flight club use. Joshua Rickert, director of the Lane Aviation Academy, revealed that this donation had been planned for approximately a year.

"We provide not only the chance for high school students to earn college credits, but also an avenue for them to discover and develop a passion for the aviation industry, a field they may have never thought of venturing into before," Rickert said.

The simulator will offer students an enhanced practical experience and training in their drone and aviation program. Moreover, it will foster a spirit of teamwork among them and introduce a fun element to their learning process.

When the flight simulator was operational at Lane Community College, users paid as much as $200 per hour for access.
