In light of Lane County weather forecasts, all college locations will be closed Thursday, February 23. Essential employees will be notified by their supervisor if they will be required to report to work. Regular operations will resume Friday, February 24.

I want to share information regarding the event on the 30th Avenue campus on Wednesday, February 22nd. A threat was called into law enforcement alleging that there was an armed individual on campus. Campus was immediately placed under lockdown. After investigating, law enforcement determined that there was no credible threat.

I want to thank Public Safety, our employees, students, and area law enforcement for their response. Although we regularly train for an event such as this, we hope to never need these skills. Everyone responded admirably.

I understand that today’s lockdown may have been traumatic and disruptive, and encourage students and employees to seek support if needed.

  • Students seeking counseling and a space to process today’s events should connect with the online Student Support Hub from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Thursday, February 23. The Hub will be open even though the campus will be closed. The Mental Health and Wellness Center will resume operations for students when the campus opens on Friday.
  • Employees who need to seek mental health care as a result of these events may access the Employee Assistance Program. MODA Health members may also access MODA Health mental health services and Kaiser members may access Kaiser mental health services.

Employees and students who left possessions behind today and wish to retrieve them prior to Friday may do so tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals who do not have keycard access should call Public Safety at 541-463-5558. If you have any concerns about your belongings, please contact Public Safety.

I appreciate the sense of community we experienced today on campus. I am proud to be a Titan.
