EUGENE, Ore. — High school students/GED earners graduating in 2024 or 2025 can take one tuition-free course this spring or summer from Lane Community College to jump-start their college education.

Courses will be held April 1 to June 15 for spring term, and June 24 to Sept. 14 for summer term. Students will receive free access to advising, tutoring, and other important college resources. Students can receive additional savings by selecting courses that are using Open Educational Resources (OER) materials for free or reduced-cost textbooks. Students will be responsible for only materials, textbooks, and course fees. Payment plans are available. Any course for college credit is eligible as long as the student meets the prerequisites. Students can choose to take this tuition free course either Spring or Summer term but not both.

“We're excited to offer this tuition-free opportunity to the class of 2024 and 2025,” said LCC High School Connections advisor 2020 Academic Advisor of the Year Brenda Williams. “It’s more than just saving on tuition; it’s about accessing a wealth of resources and support systems that Lane Community College offers.”

In addition to this tuition free course, graduating seniors and those enrolled at Lane Community College during high school can take RTEC 101 Gateway to College and Careers. This course is free and designed to prepare students for success in college and beyond. Visit lanecc.edu/rtec101 for more information.

Since the tuition-free course initiative began in summer 2020, more than 400 high school students have used the offer to start their college career early, saving more than $150,000 in combined tuition costs.
