EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of John W. Nisbet, MS, MBA, as the institution's Interim Vice President of Finance and Operations (VPFO), effective October 16. Nisbet steps into the role following the conclusion of Sue Fahey's six-month assignment as VPFO. Nisbet will serve in this capacity while the college completes its search for a permanent replacement.
With over 25 years in the industry, Nisbet brings a wealth of experience to this role. Most recently, he served as Managing Principal & Partner at The Foresight Consulting Group, offering strategic insights and financial services to entities across higher education, health sciences, and K-12 education.
Having held esteemed positions at The Registry and CampusWorks, Inc., John has shown consistent leadership and acumen in the financial realm. Between 2018 and 2022, Nisbet further bolstered their resume at Saint Leo University, guiding financial strategy, budgeting, and performance transformation as Vice President for Business Affairs & Chief Financial Officer.
Before Saint Leo University, Creighton University benefitted from John's guidance as Vice President for Finance & Chief Financial Officer, where he led a robust operating budget and a large team of over 2,000 employees.
Nisbet’s impressive career also includes key roles at institutions such as The Ohio State University, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he showcased his strengths in managing operations, finance, and strategy.
Educationally, Nisbet holds an MBA specialized in Corporate Finance from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, an MS in Molecular and Cellular Physiology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and a BS in Zoology/Animal Biology from The Ohio State University.
In addition to a stellar educational and professional track record, John also has a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from OhioHealth, adding a unique expertise in process improvement to their portfolio.
