EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College (LCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Colman “Colm” Joyce as its next Vice President of Student Affairs, effective June 1, 2023.
Dr. Joyce brings over 20 years of higher education experience to LCC, having worked in student affairs at institutions including the University of New Orleans, Oregon Health and Science University, Clark College, and the American University of Afghanistan. With a strong background in strategic enrollment management, Colm has helped many community colleges increase enrollment and streamline their admissions process through his work with the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Originally from Ireland and England, Dr. Joyce moved to the United States and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He attended Portland Community College through the GI Bill before earning degrees at Marylhurst University, Portland State University, and a PhD in Adult and Community Education from the National University of Ireland Maynooth. As a first-generation college student, he is passionate about helping community college students succeed.
In his new role as Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Joyce will oversee a wide range of services and programs, including: Recruiting and Admission, Financial Aid, Mental Health and Wellness Center, Student Health Clinic, Articulation and Transfer, Enrollment Management, the Concepción “Connie” Mesquita Multicultural Center, the Gender Equity Center, Student Success, the Center for Accessible Resources, Student Standards and Conduct, Advising, TRiO/TRiO STEM, Athletics, Student Government, International Programs, and the Veterans Center.
An outdoor enthusiast, Colm is excited to return to the Pacific Northwest and exploring the Cascades, Coastal Range, and the Oregon coast.
Dr. Joyce expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “As the next Vice President of Student Affairs, I am truly honored to work alongside the exceptional students, staff, and faculty at LCC. I am quite familiar with the Eugene area and Lane County, and I am delighted to return to the Pacific Northwest. My goals are to increase enrollment and to support students from diverse backgrounds in achieving their goals, whether that is earning an associate’s degree, professional/technical training, or accomplishing other goals and dreams.”
