 Trymaine Gaither

Lane Community College will host a community gathering to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event will be held in Building 10, Room 103 (Auditorium) on LCC's main campus and is free and open to all community members.

The evening program features a presentation titled "Mindfulness and Psychological Safety" by guest speaker Trymaine Gaither, special assistant to the provost for inclusive excellence at Washington State University. Gaither, a nationally recognized speaker and educator, specializes in creating inclusive spaces and addressing systemic inequities. He has worked extensively on initiatives promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion and has delivered impactful presentations across various academic and professional settings. Gaither will discuss the implementation of basic mindfulness practices to foster inclusive environments, understanding key elements of psychological safety, and strategies to cultivate more inclusive spaces.

Earlier in the day, a student-focused session titled “Mind Force: Community Engaged Mindfulness” will be held for LCC students who pre-registered. During the session, Trymaine Gaither will explain how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. used mindfulness and non-violence as tools to challenge power.
