EUGENE, Ore. — At its April 2 meeting, the Lane Community College (LCC) Board of Education approved a 3.1% increase to tuition rates for the 2025-26 academic year. The change will raise tuition for resident students from $144.50 to $149 per credit hour, effective Summer Term 2025.

The decision comes as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to maintain fiscal stability while continuing to invest in high-quality educational offerings, student support services, and workforce training opportunities.

“This is never an easy decision, but it’s a necessary one,” said Board Chair Zach Mulholland. “Our top priority is ensuring that students continue to have access to the programs, faculty, and resources that help them succeed. This modest tuition adjustment helps us protect those investments without placing an undue burden on our students.”

Student Body President Sophie Gibson participated in the discussion, emphasizing the importance of continued student representation in budget and tuition conversations. Since 2023, Lane has had a non-voting student board member who actively contributes to Board deliberations.

The decision to adjust tuition was guided by several key factors, including rising operational costs, ongoing inflation, and the need to stay competitive with other Oregon community colleges. The 3.1% increase remains below the current 3.4% Higher Education Price Index (HEPI), underscoring Lane’s commitment to thoughtful, fiscally responsible planning that balances rising costs with student affordability.

Lane Community College remains committed to affordability by providing extensive financial aid resources, scholarship opportunities, and support services that help students manage the cost of their education.
