EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College's accreditation has been reaffirmed by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

"The College received full accreditation along with six commendations," President Margaret Hamilton announced to the Board of Education Wednesday night. “This achievement is the result of everyone at the college pulling together to address the new accreditation standards to ensure that our students are learning what we say that they are learning and achieving the goals and outcomes they came to Lane Community College to achieve.”

LCC was commended for its exceptional support for students; creating a robust infrastructure for assessment and planning; establishing and maintaining a culture of strong faculty and staff engagement in program review; a commitment to increase efficiency and outreach of recruitment processes and to better track student retention and completion; sustaining a high level of community partnerships; and demonstrating resiliency and innovation in maintaining student access, support services, instructional quality, and safety despite a period of extraordinary challenges. The College was also found to be substantially in compliance but in need of improvement in two areas relating to enhancing institutional effectiveness and fully implementing a student learning outcomes assessment system.

Hamilton was pleased with the Commission’s notice, given that accreditation requires compliance in two broad standards and 47 subcategories. “We are thrilled that the Commission recognized the College’s commitment to student excellence and performance.”

No interim or follow-up reports are required in the next seven-year accreditation cycle according to the response from the Commission. The future evaluation cycle includes a mid-cycle review in fall 2024.

Information is available on the College's accreditation website.

LCC has been accredited by NWCCU since 1968. NWCCU is an independent accrediting authority recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
