She has served on the Poverty and Homelessness Board and has been an instructor for Futures Without Violence, specializing in board governance and equity. Weismann is an alumnus of Lane Community College and the University of Oregon, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Masters Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
"We are honored to welcome Julie Weismann as a new Trustee on the Lane Community College Board of Education," said Board Chair Zach Mulholland. "Julie's experience as Executive Director of the Hope and Safety Alliance will provide a valuable addition to the Board, and we look forward to her service."
The Zone 3 seat was vacated in May when former board member Mike Eyster announced he was moving out of the district. Zone 3 represents Springfield and Marcola. Two additional candidates were considered for the appointment: Robert (Bob) Brew, a retired public sector manager with a distinguished career in higher education administration and public finance, and Anthony Reed, a Foreman at Lease Crutcher Lewis and a Union Journeyman Carpenter.
The LCC board will hold a special meeting to administer Weismann's oath of office prior to its retreat Saturday, July 20th, 2024, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Longhouse, 4000 East 30th Avenue, Eugene.
