LCC is undertaking a comprehensive renovation of the Science, Mathematics, and Engineering laboratory facilities. The work will reconfigure existing teaching and laboratory spaces to contemporary laboratory design standards, including the installation of new equipment and the integration of communications and presentation capabilities. New space layouts, equipment, and lighting will improve student safety and allow improved instructional support during lab activities.
Renovations to common areas will improve accessibility and encourage exposure of science activities to a more diverse student profile. The renovation will also provide undergraduate research space and take care of much of the deferred maintenance backlog on this building.

Building 15 / Public Safety Relocation
This project is being delivered through three distinct phases of work. Woofter Bolch Architects and Lewis Construction have been selected to lead the design and construction efforts for these phases. Interior construction has started, along with initial sitework on the east side of the building. Heavy site work on the access road and the Elevated Platform is scheduled for the summer. The three project phases are:
Public Safety Relocation
- This project is a critical path item for Building 12 demolition. Building 15 was identified in the
2020 Master Plan as a new location for Public Safety offices.
Elevated Platform Remediation
- Sections of the raised platform west of Building 15 are to be removed to address deferred maintenance and structural deficiencies. Sitework on the lower level will improve access for emergency response and service vehicles.
Building Access and Parking
- The use of Building 15 for Public Safety will require changes to the building entry, egress pathways, and the development of dedicated parking for departmental vehicles. Design is underway to widen the service road from Gate 9 to Building 15. Construction is to be coordinated with the Public Safety Relocation and Elevated Platform Remediation projects.
Building 12 Demolition and Site Restoration
Site improvements with the demolition of Building 12 will improve pedestrian and emergency access in the southeast quadrant of the campus. Enhanced circulation pathways will create a new eastern gateway to the campus core.
- Bidding and contracting of the work were completed in conjunction with the Building 15/ Public Safety Relocation Projects.
- Demolition and construction are anticipated to begin in the summer of 2027, following the relocation of Public Safety to Building 15.

Art in Public Spaces
Although not included in the original Voter’s Pamphlet language and although Lane is not legally required to have an art expenditure related to capital projects, Lane’s bond has budgeted approximately $350,000 for art. The following is a summary of art projects completed to date with photos.
Additional projects for the Florence Center and Building 16 are in early planning stages.
Building 33 – Health Professions: The mural was completed over the summer. Created by local artist Jessilyn Brinkerhoff, the artwork wraps gracefully around and through the building, seamlessly integrating art with the architectural design. Additional art pieces have been installed in the pre-function area of the ground-floor multi-purpose classroom.
The large yellow sculpture, originally installed in the reflecting pond at the west entrance to campus, has been installed adjacent to the grand exterior stair. The new location and lighting provide wayfinding for the improved east entry to campus.
Building 32 - ITEC: Wall graphics in the hallways represent documentation used by tradeworkers.
Murals at Center and Building 11: Exterior murals have been installed on the east side of the Center Building and the north side of Building 11 (photo above).
