EUGENE, Ore. — The Lane Community College Foundation is proud to announce that it has awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships to Lane Community College (LCC) students for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year. These scholarships will provide vital financial support to 251 deserving students, who have been selected to receive a total of 339 scholarships. Additionally, several other scholarships will be offered in the fall, furthering the Foundation's commitment to empowering students through education.
At LCC, scholarships are available to students pursuing various majors, including nursing, aviation, welding, and numerous others. The awards range in value from approximately $1,500 to over $15,000, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to pursue their educational aspirations. While the average award amount is challenging to calculate due to outliers, the majority of scholarships fall between $2,000 and $4,000.
For decades, LCC district residents have rallied behind students by providing extensive scholarship opportunities. As the cost of living continues to rise, this support becomes increasingly essential. Many students face formidable challenges such as supporting families while attending school, pursuing higher education without financial assistance, and balancing multiple jobs while studying. Scholarships alleviate their burdens, enabling them to focus on their future without the weight of crushing debt. Moreover, this funding allows our health professions students to engage in crucial clinical rotations without the worry of missing job shifts. Scholarships send a powerful message to students: that their community believes in their potential and supports their success.
According to Wendy Jett, Executive Director of the LCC Foundation, “Our community's generous contributions make a tremendous impact on the lives of our students. Scholarships not only alleviate financial burdens but also convey a powerful message of belief in their potential. We are immensely grateful to our donors for their commitment to transforming lives and empowering individuals to achieve their educational and career goals.”
The LCC Foundation, through its robust scholarship program, aligns with the College's mission of providing accessible learning opportunities. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering generosity of our donors. Their contributions have enabled countless students to realize their educational and career aspirations, creating a lasting impact on their lives and the community at large.
