WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Practice professional and ethical standards inherent in the human services field
Learn active listening and effective questioning skills for working with both individuals and groups
Exhibit cultural competence skills for working with people from diverse backgrounds
Conduct various assessments with regard to eligibility, service needs, and problem resolution
Develop a plan of action for clients using a strengths-based approach to link people with community resources
Use technology and digital resources for educational and career purposes
Communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing

AFTER LANE

After our program, you'll be ready to pursue entry-level employment in a wide range of public and private non-profit agencies, with jobs like found staffing crises lines, supervising young juvenile offenders, working with the elderly to help them maintain their independence, arranging services for homeless families, coordinating recreational services for people with disabilities, providing parent education, counseling and case managing individuals experiencing addiction, and advocating for victims of domestic or sexual violence. Whatever you choose, you'll help make the world a better place.

Career Pathways Certificate

This Career Pathway Certificate fulfills the 150 hours of drug and alcohol education required by the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) for a CADC I (Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor).
