Our theatre program allows you to explore other worlds, eras, communities, and characters while helping you broaden your horizons and think outside the box.

What you’ll earn

If you dream of working in the professional theatre, acting in front of the camera, working behind the scenes, and developing the confidence and “soft skills” that employers find so attractive, Lane’s Theatre program is for you. We offer a wide range of classes and production opportunities that will help you discover, hone, and develop your skills and prepare you for the next step.

Transfer Interest Area

No matter what your career goals may be, studying theatre can help lay the foundation, giving you the confidence and communication skills to stand out in any room. Though our wide range of classes and production opportunities you’ll discover, hone, and develop your skills to prepare you to transfer to a four-year school. Coursers can also fulfill the “arts and letters” course requirements for many Lane degree programs.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Learn the art and business of contemporary theatre
  • Learn realistic and stylized acting methods and audition techniques
  • Developing your voice for stage and camera
  • Learn scene analysis, improv, and character analysis
  • Learn stagecraft, set design, lighting, sound, stage management and crew work
  • Learn stage makeup and costume design/construction techniques
  • Analyze scripts and read plays from the classics to contemporaries

AFTER LANE

Theatre transfer students are highly desirable at four-year schools and professional training programs. Our transfer agreements with the University of Oregon and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as well as our alignment of Theatre classes at other colleges and universities allows you to transfer easily as a Theatre major or minor. Our students frequently pursue additional training or embark on other professions while applying their training to their active professional lives.
