Speaker Series

The series seeks to engage students, faculty, staff and the community in lifelong learning through the shared expertise and experiences of visiting scholars,
practitioners, artists, cultural ambassadors and agents for change. As the community's college, the series seeks to educate and inspire as a means to fulfill Lanes vision of transforming lives through learning.

The Lane Community College Speaker Series is designed as an inclusive program to engage the campus and community through the shared knowledge of guest speakers and artists. The series, funded by the Lane Community College Foundation's Roberta Konnie Endowment Fund, was created as an outreach tool for the college to enrich the educational environment through visiting distinguished speakers and practitioners. The series seeks to stimulate conversations related to its core values: learning, diversity, innovation, collaboration and partnership, integrity, accessibility and sustainability. Most lectures are held in the evening and open to the public. In addition to their evening lecture, visiting speakers are invited to share their expertise with students in the classroom during their visit to Lane.
