The goal of the Counseling Department is to provide retention and support services which allow you to profit from your Lane Community College experience. The counselors, academic advisors, support staff, and peer assistants work together to present a variety of services to a diverse student population.

Counselors can offer you assistance with:

• Returning to school and adjusting to changes
• Making career and educational decisions
• Developing academic plans for accomplishing your goals
• Improving interpersonal communication skills
• Coping with stress and depression
• Resolving personal and family problems
• Strengthening student success

The Counseling Department also hosts New Student Information Sessions at the 30th Avenue campus. 

The New Student Information section can answer many of your questions.

You may contact counselors or academic advisors directly during their posted office hours, or through the Counseling and Advising Center. The Counseling and Advising Center is available to you for orientation and information on a drop-in basis. You may also use the center for brief advising or for referral for counseling or advising.

The Counseling and Advising Center hours until June 13, 2008 are from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Wednesday, 8 am to 3 pm on Thursdays and 8 am to 2 pm on Fridays. The college closes at 2 pm on Fridays.

Summer hours - June 16 through August 28, 2008

Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The College is Closed on Fridays during the summer.

Some counseling and advising services are also available at the Downtown Center, Cottage Grove, and Florence Centers. Contact those centers for information or appointments.
