The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among associate degree students. To achieve this purpose the organization provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service. Besides becoming involved in chapter, college, and community activities, there are many other benefits to becoming a member.

The chapter at Lane Community College is called Sigma Zeta. For 2006 Sigma Zeta has continued to achieve Platinum Pinnacle and is a five star chapter.

What's new?

• Formal induction for the chapter and alumni association
• 30th Avenue road cleanup in May
• Board of Education May meeting
• Sigma Zeta brought home 15 awards, 3 regional officers, and a regional coordinator from the Regional Convention.
• Sigma Zeta brought home four awards from the 91st International Convention.

• First summer term chapter meeting is Tuesday, July 7, in Building 2, Room 203, at 3 p.m.
• There will be a chapter leadership training in Tillamook, Oregon, July 23-25. Details are on the regional web site. Contact any chapter officer of the advisors if you would like to attend.
