EBSCO, SIRS, and Proquest allow full-text linking to specific articles. These links can be posted to a web page and used for class readings. Each database uses a slightly different technique for creating these links. The following instructions will guide you through the procedure of how to acquire the URL to a specific article. Once the URL of an article is acquired, a link can be placed into a web page either by using a HTML editor or hand coding it into a <a href> statement like so <a href="insert the URL to the article"> insert a descriptive title</a>. For example, in the text box below is the code for the link Accessing American Diversity:

Newsbank (Oregonian) and CQ Researcher do not offer such links, but do allow articles to be e-mailed (see below). Articles can also be placed on reserve in the Library or electronically.
EBSCO
There are multiple ways to create links to full-text articles in EBSCO. The following directions will guide you through creating links to articles regardless if the article is in HTML or in PDF format. These directions differ from the instructions EBSCO provides on their web site. EBSCO links do not expire.
In the search results screen, click on the article's title to view the article's citation (do not click on the full-text links).
In the article's citation, highlight the URL located after the"Persistent link to this record:"

Copy the URL to the computer clipboard.
Paste the link into the HTML of your web page along with a descriptive title.
To access the full-text article off-campus, students will be prompted to enter their last name and "L" number.
SIRS Knowledge Source
Links are created using Internet Explorer Favorites
After locating an article, select the bookmark icon. This saves the article as a bookmark in Internet Explorer's Favorites. The link will remain valid for 60 days before expiring.
To link the article from your web page:
Once the bookmark is saved, go to Favorites, and right click on the SIRS article.
Next, right click on Properties
If not already highlighted, highlight the URL (it will be long). Copy the URL by pressing the Ctrl key and c key from the keyboard at the same time (Ctrl + C)
Paste the link into the HTML of your web page along with a descriptive title.
To access the full-text article off-campus, students will be prompted to enter their last name and "L" number.

- Alt-Press Watch
Place a checkmark next to the article's title.
Select the "Marked List:" tab.
Select the "My Research Summary" tab and highlight the full URL (it may be several lines long).
Copy and paste the URL into your web page.
To access the full-text article off-campus, students will be prompted to enter their last name and "L" number.
