1. Acquisitions evaluation
- research, try out and decide which major reference tools and electronic databases to acquire.
2. Classroom presentations
- teach about the Library's resources in the Library's electronic classroom, using general or customized presentations.
3. Collection management
- build the Library's book, dvd and electronic collections by reading reviews, selecting new materials and by removing outdated items ("weeding").
4. College governance
- participate in the broader college community by serving on college committees and teams.
5. Community service
- take an active role in the broader community.
6. Curriculum development
- systematically create and revise a formal curriculum to meet changing needs.
7. Faculty liaison
- each librarian is responsible for maintaining close relationships with designated faculty on campus. We collaborate in building the collection and matching the Library's services to the College curriculum and needs.
8. Information literacy
- lead the College's efforts to incorporate information literacy into the College curricula.
9. Library governance
- actively participate in planning for the Library and working with other staff and users to improve services.
10. Professional development
- undertake to keep learning and growing in professional knowledge and skills.
11. Professional service
- take part in the broader community of librarianship, teaching and academia.
12. Promotion
- work to make the Library visible, useful and attractive to students and other users.
13. Recruitment and training
- help in the selection and training of qualified staff and faculty.
14. Reference
- staff the reference desk and provide direct information services to all the Library's users.
15. Research and publishing
- research, write and publish in our fields of expertise.
16. Service improvements
- research, plan, adapt and implement new services.
17. Web/print publishing
- develop content for the Library website and plan the site's overall structure and objectives. Additionally, librarians create print finding aids, brochures, and other materials for the Library.
