Culinary Arts

The minimum amount of credits needed to graduate in the Culinary Arts 2-Year Program is 104 credits.

To begin the admission process for the Culinary Arts program, just follow these steps...

  1. Lane Community College Admission
    Apply to Lane Community College. Once you are a Lane student you will receive an 'L' number. This number is required on your Culinary Arts application.
  2. Placement Testing
    Take placement tests in reading, writing, and math. Minimum scores needed to apply to the program are reading-68 and writing-64 and readiness for Math 25. If you have prior college credit in writing or math, attach an unofficial transcript to your application. Math must be current within one year or a placement test will need to be taken.   3. Complete Your Culinary Arts Program Application
    If you would like to apply to the program for the 2-year Associate Arts Degree, please download a Culinary Arts Program application (see below) or request a program application from the Culinary and Hospitality office, (541) 463-3503. Applications to the Culinary Arts Program are available now and are accepted March 1st - June 30th (WE WILL CONTINUE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS AFTER JUNE 30TH ONLY IF CAPACITY HAS NOT BEEN REACHED). Carefully answer all questions and provide a letter of recommendation, preferably on letterhead, with a contact name and phone number.

  1. Submit Your Culinary Arts Program Application
    When your application is completed, send a hard copy to: Culinary and Hospitality, Bldg 19, Room 202 for review and scoring. E-mail submissions will NOT be accepted and incomplete applications will not be considered. You may be called for an interview. The program application fee for the academic year 2009-2010 is $325. The program fee pays for your culinary uniform and knife kit and holds your spot in the program until registration begins. Please be aware of the program application fee before submitting your application. The program application fee is payable upon acceptance into the program. There is no fee forsubmitting your application.
  2. Pathways Program Certificate.  Now available, are two Pathways Program Certficates in Baking and Pastry and Food Preparation and Production.  There is no application process for these certificate programs.  They are designed to be under-one-year programs, with the flexibility to complete the programs in one to two academic years.  Please see the following link to review the course outlines.
