Lane Community College has determined that it is not subject to the reporting requirements of CALEA (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act.) This procedure provides the reasons for this determination.
Lane Community College has determined that it is not subject to the reporting requirements of CALEA (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act) because:
- Lane Community College maintains a private network for the use of students, faculty and administrators. College workstations, network accounts and wireless network access require authentication with a college issued user ID and password. There are some limited exceptions in the Library where some workstations are available for public use during the open hours of the Library.
- Lane Community College does not support the connection from our private network to the public internet. We purchase ISP (Internet Service Provider) services from Lane ESD which provides the connection to the public internet.
- Lane Community College maintains an additional private network for use exclusively by residents of Titan Court in downtown Eugene. Lane Community College purchases ISP services for this facility from Comcast, who maintains and supports the connection from the Titan Court private network to the public internet
