Lane Community College's massage program is designed to give the student a strong, basic foundation in the academics as well as the hands-on skills of therapeutic massage. The training in this program prepares the student to apply to take the State of Oregon Massage Licensing Exams. Our classes are approved by the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists, and are taught by knowledgeable and dedicated health professionals in the field of bodywork. The Oregon Board of Massage Therapists require documentation of completion of a minimum of 500 classroom hours in order to apply to sit for the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists licensing exams. The 500 hours must be comprised of 200 hours of health sciences to include Anatomy/Physiology, Pathology and Kinesiology and 300 hours of Massage Theory and Practical Application, Clinical Practice, Business Development, Communication, Ethics, Sanitation and Hydrotherapy. To sit for the exams, students must be at least 18 years of age. Lane's current program is 614 contact hours and the entire program must be completed to earn a Certificate of Completion.
