Continuing Education for Licensed Massage Therapists

23021 Beginning Thai Massage and Bodywork, 9 am-5:30 pm, S, Oct  3-24, DTC Rm 040 (32 hrs $175)

Learn the techniques for a 90 minute session.  An ancientcompassionate art of bodywork from Thailand.  It includes assistedstretching, compression and joint manipulation. Alia Alsalti

In this workshop students will review trigger points and muscle testing for the body. By Sunday evening, students

Nurture yourself while learning to move more comfortably, gracefully and efficiently around the massage table and through life.  Each Student receives a one hour combination movement lesson and massage focused on their individual priorities for self improvement followed

by a 1.5 class meeting for discussion and group movement.  Instuctor, Sabra Marcroft, has been an LMT for 19 years and is a Feldenkrais Practitioner.

 

22993 Hospital Based Massage, noon-1 pm, R, Oct 1-Dec 10, DTC Rm 316 (20 hrs $99)

 LMT Students or Licensed MassageTherapists, who have completed Community Student Clinic or a previous internship with McKenzie-Willamette, have the opportunity to do massage with medically compromised patients at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center and/or

Sacred Heart oncology unit and/or the Willamette Valley Cancer Center.  This qualifies for CEU's for Licensed Massage Therapists. - Jan Locke

This class will explore the historical roots of Lomilomi, be

introduced to the Hawaiian healing philosophy, and learn an effective 60-90 minute full body treatment. Balanced biomechanics will be emphasized so the practitioner can deliver deep effective therapy for relaxation or injury prevention and relief with little stress on the therapist's body. This class incorporates specific use of heated stones in a

traditional lomilomi full body treatment for relaxation and injury prevention and recovery. Explore how stones combined with the ancient Hawaiian healing philosophies can be spiritually inspiring as well as effective immediate and long-term problem solving therapy. Healing self-care approaches for the therapist will be discussed that will

This class, taught by Dr. Guthrie and Annie Siemens will focus on well recognized methods for treatment and prevention of cervical, thoracic and low back pain. The

Thailand has unique healing techniques for body as well as feet. Students will learn a 60 minute session for feet, ankles and lower legs.  The techniques include passive joint manipulation, gentle stretching and energy lines awareness.  Each class begins with breathing, stretching and movement exercises. - Alia Alsalti
