11118 Lifting the Veil, Friday, Aug 15, 3-8 pm and Saturday, Aug 16, 9 am-5 pm, DTC 040 (12 hrs $265) Deepen your knowledge of the ways and whys of postural patterns and of the motivations behind the way people move. Become a visionary---enhance your ability to "see" into any body, including yourself. Work with the knowledge that the body changes as easily as change is needed. 11119 Poetry in Motion, 6-8 pm, R, Aug 21-Sep 4, DTC 027 (6 hrs $59) When the muscles that coordinate movement in joints aren’t able to work fluidly and in balance with each other, movement becomes misaligned and effortful, stressing the joint as well as the rest of the body. Learn to put the poetry back into the body’s motion by balancing each joint so movement becomes graceful, efficient and effortless. This class will explore the historical roots of Lomilomi, be introduced to the Hawaiian healing philosophy, and learn an effective 60-90 minute full body treatment. Balanced biomechanics will be emphasized so the practitioner can deliver deep effective therapy for relaxation or injury prevention and relief with little stress on the therapist's body. - Marcia York

Students will learn a 60 minute session for feet, ankles and lower leg. The techniques include passive joint manipulation, gentle stretching and energy lines awareness. 11064 Shiatsu: A Basic Session, 6-9 pm, T, Jun 24-Jul 29 18 hrs $129 Learn to give a basic 1-1/2 hour Shiatsu acupressure session to a comfortably-clothed receiver on either a massage table or padded floor. Shiatsu techniques include rhythmic presses, stretches, rocking and point holding. History and theory introduced: practice is emphasized. Students will learn self-treatment and awareness exercises.
