GED (General Educational Development)

Lane's GED Preparation Program prepares students to pass the GED exam. The GED gives those who did not graduate from high school the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency certificate. Recognized nationwide by employers and educators, the GED certificate has increased education and employment opportunities for millions of adults since 1942.

New GED preparation students must attend an orientation session to determine readiness and assess particular areas of needed improvement. Once you enroll in the GED preparation program, you will receive targeted instruction in each of the five subjects covered by the GED test: reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. In addition, GED preparation students have the opportunity to take official GED practice tests.

Graduates of the GED preparation program are honored at the annual college graduation ceremony and may apply for a tuition waiver and scholarships (subject to eligibility requirements).

Teen GED Option Program - Teens 16-17 years of age who are referred by or released from their local high school and who read at a secondary level are eligible for this program. Classes are held at the 30th Avenue campus. Call (541) 463-5214 for more information.

Online GED Preparation Program - Adult students who are unable to attend regular classes or who wish to work independently may choose the Online GED Preparation Program.  Students who wish to enroll in this program must attend an orientation session to determine readiness and assess particular areas of needed improvement.  Students must meet minimum skill requirements in order to enroll in this program.

Spanish GED classes provide instruction in Spanish to help students prepare to pass the Spanish GED. Graduates of the Spanish GED preparation program are honored at the annual college graduation ceremony and may apply for a tuition waiver and scholarships (subject to eligibility requirements). Students who wish to enroll in the Spanish GED program should contact the instructor prior to attending classes.

Las clases de GED en español ofrecen instrucción en español para ayudar estudiantes a prepararse para pasar el GED en español.

Official GED Practice Testing is available to current ABSE students and to individuals preparing to enter Lane Community College apprenticeship programs. Call (541) 463-5945 for information on availability.

GED testing is provided by Lane’s Testing Center on the main campus, Building 1, Room 116. Call the Testing Center at (541) 463-5324 for more test information, appointment times and fees.
